Police brutality against civilians has made national headlines, resulting in a significant image and credibility crisis for city and suburban police departments. Police forces around the country have received a great deal of national coverage as a result of high-profile reports of excessive force that have resulted in the deaths and severe injuries of people of all ages.
Nadayaw and kinatan-ok are ilocano words meaning "Honor and Greatness". The concept of the project is to provide a sense of openness to the public through induced interactions within the community with park and talk opportunities between civilians and the police. The overall form and appearance of the Proposed Provincial Police Headquarters is inspired by the vernacular architecture in Laoag City to provide a building that is already familiar to Ilocanos, as well as a combination of contemporary to bring the structure into harmony. Brise soleil will be adapted to provide sun shading to the building since Laoag has a high temperature climate in most days.
